About the Role

The Group Risk team is responsible for establishing the framework for the management of risks across the Group. The function acts as a close advisor to businesses and is engaged in all key strategic initiatives. They should be seen as a strategic partner with deep relationships that proactively identifies, escalates and supports management of risks. A global function requires individuals to support teams across geographical locations, cultures and capabilities. Bringing our strengths to bear and being open to opportunities that develop both ourselves and the Group. The role requires close alignment and coordination with Group Risk colleagues in both central teams (Frameworks and Policy, Tooling, Cyber, Sustainability, TPRM) and Coverage (Data and Analytics, Markets, Post Trade and Operations).

Scope

Support the Divisional Risk Officer for the Corporate Functions to identify, assess, manage and monitor their risks. 2nd line coverage role for Legal and Compliance

Coordinate review of the Enterprise Investment Portfolio for risk insights ahead of the Enterprise Investment Committee on a monthly basis, and for the annual Investment process.

Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees the identification, analysis and monitoring of key drivers for non-financial risk in Corporate Functions and adopts a business partnering approach to providing advice, guidance and challenge
  • Enables implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and its applicable elements defined by coverage area (e.g. Risk Assessments, Third Party Risk, Data Governance etc.) aligned with the Division’s key objectives
  • Develops strong risk culture and promotes awareness of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework
  • Oversight over control improvement, issue remediation, communication and training across coverage areas
  • Contributing to the collation and preparation of materials for risk reporting committees
  • Identifying and reporting risks to relevant committees, key business partners and senior leaders, providing expert advice and guidance in all matters relating to risk management for relevant areas
  • Encouraging best practice and continuous improvement and alignment with the Group Risk framework
  • Maintaining positive relationships across all three lines of defence so that the risk framework has full endorsement from leadership and appropriately addresses their risk management needs
  • Supporting the First Line team in delivering and maintaining the Risk and Control Assessment (RCA), whilst providing effective and robust review and challenge, ensuring effective risk remediation actions are identified to address control vulnerabilities
  • Ensuring all risks identified as being near or outside appetite have high quality remediation plans which are monitored through the relevant governance forums
  • Review and challenge of key controls and self identified and internal audit issues and findings, and providing recommendations to improve, develop metrics and assess for efficiency
  • Ongoing support for material control owners and providing recommendations to meet 2LOD requirements.
  • Attendance and participation in relevant risk committees, forums, project boards and workshops
  • Delivery of training and workshops to key partners and employees as required
  • Management of the Enterprise Portfolio including key dates, drafting risk insights and preparing Divisional Risk Officer for monthly Committee Meeting.
  • Build positive relationships/collaborate with Enterprise investment team
  • Supporting the 1LOD to deliver on their business maturity target

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in Non-Financial Risk and controls which have included coverage roles of Corporate Functions
  • Excellent communication skills and highly collaborative across the Group, with a global view on problem solving, internal partner management
  • Inputs into selection of KRIs, KPIs and objectives and ensures alignment with the broader Group risk strategy
  • Ability to challenge KRI and KPI outputs and oversee remediation actions
  • Ability to complete deep dives and analysis on key programs, providing valuable insight on key risks.
  • Experience working on transformation projects and managing transformation portfolios
  • Career Stage: Manager
