Senior Risk Manager

Nest Invest
London (Hybrid working)

At Nest Invest, we're leading the way in driving up standards and best practices across the industry, delivering a high-quality, low-cost pension scheme that's open to all. Now with 10 million members, we're playing a critical role in helping people save for their retirement, many of whom are low to moderate earners who may be saving for the first time and moving jobs frequently.

Our investment team is responsible for investing our members' contributions to grow their retirement pots over the long term. We're building a capability and culture that embraces innovation, leverages technology, and harnesses the power of data to deliver exceptional outcomes for our members.

The Role

As our Senior Risk Manager, you'll sit within the Nest Invest Risk Function (Second Line of Defence) and support the development, implementation and continuous enhancement of our Enterprise Risk Management Framework. You'll work closely with risk and control owners, investment teams, senior management and the Risk & Compliance Committee to embed effective risk management across our organisation and ensure risk-informed decision-making aligned to our strategic objectives.

In this role, you'll focus on identifying, assessing and monitoring strategic, investment and operational risks, translating risk insights, emerging threats and market developments into actionable recommendations that strengthen governance and our control environment. You'll combine enterprise risk management expertise with analytical thinking to enhance risk reporting, support the development of risk appetite and Key Risk Indicators, maintain our Active Risks and Opportunities register, and improve the robustness, consistency and transparency of risk management across Nest Invest.

The Person

We're looking for an experienced Risk Manager with a strong background in Enterprise Risk Management within Financial Services. You'll be able to take ownership of enterprise risk processes, build effective relationships across the business, provide independent oversight and constructive challenge, and act as a trusted risk partner to enable informed business decision-making. You'll proactively identify opportunities to strengthen our risk maturity, support the business in managing risk effectively, and translate complex risk analysis into clear and meaningful insights for senior stakeholders.

You'll have:

  • Multiple years' experience in Enterprise Risk Management within Financial Services, ideally pensions, investment management or asset management.
  • Experience operating within a Second Line of Defence (2LOD) risk function, providing effective oversight while working collaboratively with the business to achieve sustainable risk outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Risk Management frameworks, risk appetite, Key Risk Indicators, risk registers and governance processes.
  • Experience preparing high-quality risk reporting and presenting risk insights to senior management, Risk Committees and Boards.
  • Experience identifying, assessing and monitoring strategic, operational, investment and emerging risks, including horizon scanning and scenario analysis, with the ability to proactively anticipate and respond to changing business needs.
  • Good knowledge of prudential regulatory requirements and risk management best practice.
  • Experience facilitating risk event management, root cause analysis and continuous improvement of the control environment, working with business areas to drive practical and effective improvements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, provide objective challenge and support better business decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted, collaborative relationships across all levels of the organisation and work effectively with business teams to embed risk management practices.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to identify areas where risk management can enable business objectives, improve processes and support organisational success.
  • Excellent planning, organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to evolving business requirements and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Experience using enterprise risk management systems; knowledge of Protecht would be advantageous.
  • Risk and/or investment management qualifications would be beneficial.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
