Senior Risk Manager
Senior Project Risk Management Professional/Director (Scotland Infrastructure Risk Team) – Turner & Townsend
About the Role
Working with our clients across real estate, infrastructure, energy and natural resources, Turner & Townsend delivers impactful projects and programmes, transforming challenges into opportunities. As part of a global consultancy, this role will involve leading and shaping the Scotland Infrastructure Risk team, supporting high-profile clients while contributing to our national Risk Management community of over 100 professionals.
You’ll be joining at a critical moment, supporting the mentorship of junior teams, building a high-performing risk function in Scotland, and influencing client strategy, internal capabilities, and market positioning.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and delegate activities of the Risk Management team on complex projects/programmes.
- Communicate with Senior Management / Stakeholders to deliver actionable updates.
- Lead team briefings to ensure clear project scopes, roles, and responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain leadership relationships with interfacing disciplines.
- Conduct line management, including career development and performance reviews.
Process Improvement & Implementation
- Drive continuous improvement in Risk Management processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead the implementation and embedding of process changes across engagements.
- Promote Risk Management benefits in project and programme teams.
Expertise & Support
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise in Risk Management, offering SME workshops and engagements.
- Conduct critical risk assessments (e.g., QCRA, QSRA) and provide analysis to stakeholders.
- Deliver training and coaching on Risk Management processes to clients and team members.
- Support recruitment efforts to grow and develop project controls capabilities.
- Engage with national and regional Risk Management communities (e.g., Communities of Practice).

Skills, Qualifications & Behaviours
Experience Required
✅ Essential
- Extensive experience managing Risk Management on complex projects/programmes.
- Experience interfacing with other project disciplines (e.g., cost, procurement, controls).
- Proven ability to lead multi-discipline Risk Management teams.
- Hands-on experience with multiple risk standards and methodologies, including:
- ISO 31000, APM, Orange Book, IPA
- Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA, QCRA, Risk Register) and associated tools (e.g., @Risk, Safran)
- Comparative knowledge of risk tools (ARM, Predict!, Risk Controller, riskHive, Xactium).
✔ Desirable
- Ability to work across both delivery and transformation projects.
- Familiarity with NEC Contracts.
- Security Clearance experience.
