Senior Room Leader – Nursery – East Malling

Role Description
The Senior Room Leader – Nursery is a full-time, on-site position based in East Malling. In this role, the Senior Room Leader will:
- Oversee the daily operation of a nursery room, including:
- Planning and delivering age-appropriate activities
- Supervising childcare practitioners
- Ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing

Observe and record children’s development, while maintaining accurate documentation and communicating regularly with families about:
- Progress updates
- Concerns raised

Support the implementation of nursery policies, coordinate staffing and routines, and ensure compliance with:
- Relevant childcare standards
- Safeguarding protocols

Mentor team members, contribute to staff meetings, and help create a:
- Positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for children and colleagues.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential:
- Relevant childcare and early years education qualifications (e.g., Level 3 or above in Early Years or Childcare)
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development
- Proven experience in:
- Leading a nursery room
- Staff supervision
- Room planning
- Managing day-to-day operations

Strong background in:
- Safeguarding
- Health and safety
- Regulatory compliance
- Understanding of UK childcare standards and best practices

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including:
- Ability to interact effectively with children, families, and colleagues
- Providing clear feedback and building trusting relationships

Strong organisational and planning skills, including:
- Designing engaging activities
- Managing schedules and schedules
- Maintaining ** accurate records and observations**

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with the following:

Up-to-date Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain)
