In our newly opening Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Centre in Royal Tunbridge Wells, you’ll shape a cutting-edge service from day one as our Senior SACT Nurse.
We’re seeking a dedicated Senior SACT Nurse to deliver outstanding chemotherapy and systemic therapy care. This role offers a rare opportunity to develop a new service alongside a multidisciplinary team while making a tangible difference to patients across West Kent and beyond.
About the Role
As part of GenesisCare UK’s expanding onsite network, this purpose-built centre will provide:
- Chemotherapy and immunotherapy
- Personalised systemic anti-cancer therapies, including cellular therapies
- Integrated care with radiotherapy, medical oncology, and diagnostics
Your expert nursing leadership will be vital in establishing a high-quality SACT service that prioritises experimental innovations and individualised patient journeys.
Key Responsibilities

Comprehensive clinical care & leadership
- Deliver safe, expert chemotherapy and systemic therapies per UKONS and GenesisCare standards
- Manage a complex patient caseload, ensuring holistic, evidence-based treatment supported by pathology, radiology and multidisciplinary teams
- Provide nurse-led clinic services, including oncology education, consent discussions and support
- Collaborate with the Lead SACT Nurse and wider department to maintain clinical governance

Advanced technical skills
- Demonstrate proficiency in:
- Venepuncture, intravenous access, cannula management and central line care
- Emergency recognition: neutropenic sepsis, anaphylaxis and extravasation
- Infusion therapy administration via pump, ambulatory systems and oncology-optimised venepoints
- Demonstrate proficiency in:

Performance and safety
- Rotate on a 24/7 call-out system, triaging urgent needs and patients outside core hours
- Drive clinical audit, service evaluation and research participation to inform practice
- Maintain an unquestioned evidence-based approach to patient safety protocols

- Support workflow efficiency and compliance in partially-rural client base, where minor case complexity may be amplified by greater access distances
- Mentor and develop staff, mentoring junior nurses in proficiency based learning and CTAPs

- Adapt to new ways of working at the launch of a new services, where policies and workflows are evolving dynamically
- Embed high-recall principles for ** informs, treatments and research trials**
Who We’re Looking For
Candidates possessing vital oncology skills—paired with a passion for shaping new approaches—are imperative. Required criteria:
Essential
- Registered Nurse (NMC) with valid registration
- UKONS SACT extension (or commitment to complete within 3 months)
- Minimum 2 years post-registration nursing experience in oncology or related speciality (e.g. surgical experience with oncologic support)
- Demonstrable experience administering intravenous chemotherapy
- Advanced peripherally inserted (PICC) line placement and complex catheter port-based care, with evidence of competence in maintance protocols
- Oncology telephone triage experience (recognition and escalation of sepsis, drug reactions and complications)
- Pertinent Technical Proficiency:
- Accredited competency expertise in **intravenous therapy (ABC Have 2021) with oncology-specific guidance)
- Surgeon-led vote or nurse-based consent support in chemotherapy contexts
Desirable
- Haematology or high-intensity infusion centre background, particularly with nephrology and oncology
- Experience in handling ‘rare disease’ and marketing managed cancer protocols)
- Participation in innovation initiatives
- Proven experience in NMC-informed audits and patient safety alert system
