About The Role
The Senior Safeguarding Officer plays a vital role in strengthening safeguarding practices across Place2Be, a leading children’s mental health charity. Working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Safeguarding, this role helps ensure the organisation meets its safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults by:
- Enhancing training across staff and volunteers
- Embedding robust safeguarding policies
- Improving systems and standards in partnership with schools
This dynamic position blends operational oversight, training delivery, and service development, enabling you to influence wider organisational practices while supporting multi-agency collaboration and securing better outcomes for children and young people.
We seek a candidate with managerial experience and safeguarding knowledge specifically within an education setting.

This vacancy covers maternity leave from: 1st October 2026 to 30th November 2027 (14 months).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver safeguarding training for staff, volunteers, and partner schools
- Support the implementation of safeguarding policies across multiple sites
- Oversee collaboration with external agencies on complex safeguarding cases
- Monitor trends and provide strategic recommendations to improve organisational safeguarding practice

Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
- Strong safeguarding expertise with a focus on education settings
- Proven managerial experience, including team leadership in safeguarding contexts
- Excellent knowledge of working with children & vulnerable adults within UK legal and regulatory frameworks
- Experience collaborating with multi-agency partners (Children's Services, police, local authorities, etc.)
