Job Description
Our buildings don’t just shape our skylines — they provide the backdrop to our lives. And knowing they’re safe matters. We’ve been helping to create safer structures since 1894, bringing together more than a century of expertise with innovative new technologies to make sure both people and property are secure. As more people have to deal with extreme weather, we’re on hand to test products and building materials to increasingly rigorous standards. Whether we’re simulating tornadoes or testing smoke alarms, the work we do on our team is used in buildings around the world to — quite literally — help save lives.
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Sales Executive to drive business growth for our Fire Safety Testing & Certification services across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for a consultative sales professional who thrives on building relationships, uncovering customer needs, and delivering solutions that help organizations bring safer products and systems to market.
Responsibilities
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Drive new business development by identifying, targeting, and engaging prospective customers across the fire safety and built environment sectors.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, and social selling activities.
- Lead customer discovery conversations to understand business challenges, technical requirements, and purchasing drivers.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to grow revenue within existing and new customer accounts.
- Present UL Solutions' Fire Safety Testing & Certification services as trusted solutions that support compliance, quality, and market access objectives.
- Manage the entire sales process, including qualification, proposal development, pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and deal closure.
- Leverage Salesforce (or equivalent CRM) to manage opportunities, track sales activities, and deliver accurate forecasts.
- Collaborate closely with Sales Support, Inside Sales, and Engineering teams to develop compelling customer solutions.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling additional UL Solutions services across the broader portfolio.
- Build long-term customer relationships and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the customer journey.
- Travel regularly to customer sites and industry events to strengthen relationships and support business growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
