Senior Sales Lead
Location: UK (Hybrid) – London/Welwyn Garden City Business: obconnect (PayPoint’s Open Banking subsidiary) Reports to: Commercial Director / Managing Director (obconnect)

PayPoint is a leading UK-based payments and commerce services business, serving millions of individuals and thousands of organisations. We offer services such as bill payments, digital payments, cash services, and funds disbursement across sectors like financial services, utilities, public sector, and retail.
obconnect is a wholly-owned fintech subsidiary of PayPoint, specialising in Open Banking and account-to-account payment technologies. We design and operate regulatory-grade Open Banking software used by:
- ASPSPs (Account Servicing Payment Service Providers)
- TPPs (Third-Party Providers)
- Operators of trust-framework-based schemes
By integrating obconnect’s Open Banking capabilities with PayPoint’s payments, disbursement, and platform services, we deliver differentiated, compliant propositions to banks and regulated institutions.
Role Purpose
The Senior Sales Lead will:
- Originate, develop, and close complex enterprise sales opportunities with ASPSPs, banks, and regulated financial institutions.
- Drive a joined-up solution, combining obconnect’s Open Banking software with PayPoint’s services.
- Act as a senior commercial owner for long-cycle, multi-stakeholder deals.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Deal Execution
- Lead the end-to-end sales cycle for ASPSP/bank-facing enterprise opportunities.
- Drive complex, long-cycle sales processes, engaging multiple teams:
- Technology
- Compliance
- Legal
- Procurement
- Sell bundled propositions, merging obconnect software with PayPoint’s payments, disbursement, and related services.
- Maintain a highly qualified pipeline, ensuring alignment with business targets.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage credibly with C-level and senior stakeholders, including:
- Heads of Payments
- Open Banking leads
- Digital, Risk, and Compliance teams
- Represent obconnect internally and externally as a trusted advisor on Open Banking trends and strategies.
Internal Collaboration
- Contribute market insights to:
- Product development
- Pricing strategies
- Go-to-market (GTM) plans
- Work closely with Customer Success to ensure seamless onboarding of new customers.
Experience & Background
Essential Criteria
✅ Proven enterprise sales experience – Specialising in selling software, infrastructure, or financial services to banks, ASPSPs, or regulated institutions. ✅ Track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals – With long sales cycles (typically 6+ months). ✅ Strong Open Banking, payments, or regulated fintech knowledge – Understanding of:
- Account-to-account (A2A) payments
- Regulatory frameworks (e.g., PSD2, FCA)
- Open Banking schemes (e.g., FCA Register, UK Finance standards) ✅ Comfort engaging with compliance & risk teams – Ability to navigate financial services regulations.

Desired Experience
(Any of the following are a huge plus:)
- Head of Enterprise Sales, Business Development, or Strategic Sales (fintech)
- Financial Services Sales Director (banks, payment providers, or Open Banking)
- Payments Sales Director (regulatory-grade solutions)
- Open Banking Sales Director (preferable but not mandatory)
- Experience in commercial leadership roles across:
- ASPSPs (banks)
- TPPs (third-party providers)
- Payment infrastructure providers
