Senior Business Development Manager: Siemens Sustainability

Location: Flexible, home-based role with travel to customer sites. Candidates should be based within a commutable distance of the Manchester office, as you’ll be required to attend fortnightly to collaborate with the team.

We are recruiting for an experienced and driven Senior Business Development Manager to join Siemens’ Sustainability business. This is an unrivalled opportunity to craft Siemens approach in this field through co-creating new technical and commercial solutions with customers and partners as they address the rising cost of energy and evolving carbon challenges.

Siemens Sustainability is a global leader in energy services, dedicated to helping organisations decarbonise and reduce energy costs. With over 2,200 energy projects delivered, we’ve helped our customers avoid €3.4 billion in utility costs and reduce emissions by over 16.6MtCO2. We develop and execute projects covering a variety of solutions that reduce our clients’ energy use and generate clean affordable energy on site. In addition, we also provide market-leading digital services to help customers efficiently monitor and manage their energy, operations and maintenance activities and environmental footprint.

Over the next years we have a high growth ambition and are looking for a passionate and driven Senior Business Development Manager to join our team and drive large-scale decarbonisation projects. This role can be based anywhere within the UK, with weekly travel to our offices and customer sites.

You’ll create impact by:

  • Generate a robust and qualified pipeline of opportunities
  • Responsible for both business development and closing of deals (supported by Bid Management Team)
  • Manage the sales process to ensure customer opportunities are properly qualified prior to investment of resources
  • Thorough understanding of wide-ranging challenges faced by clients with strong ideas and approach for helping address and overcome these by developing comprehensive, mutually beneficial partnerships and strategies
  • Understand and explain the market drivers, business objectives and operational issues for businesses seeking to decarbonise, digitalise and reduce cost
  • Ensure coordinated and cooperative effort between Siemens Sustainability sales team and operations, as well as other divisions within Siemens
  • Conduct your own networking activities, marketing, customer meetings, proposal development and customer presentations to deliver outstanding customer value
  • Participate in development of long-range sales planning and growth strategies. Develop detailed sales forecast and provide input to budget

You’ll build on your existing expertise, including:

  • Significant experience in sales within the energy, sustainability or building automation sectors; with proven track record in closing deals
  • Proven experience forging strong relationships with executive level stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of the energy efficiency and renewables sectors
  • Knowledge of return on investment value propositions and XaaS
  • Ability to facilitate a cooperative approach in a complex environment with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills are required to interact with customers and team members
  • Strong business orientation, customer focus and decision-making ability
