Role Overview

The Senior Science Technician will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the Science Department, which comprises six laboratories and three preparation rooms.

Description

The Senior Science Technician will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the Science Department, which comprises six laboratories and three preparation rooms. Working closely with the Head of Science, the postholder will lead the technician team and coordinate the day-to-day delivery of technical support across all science disciplines.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Organising resources, equipment, chemicals, and laboratory facilities to enable high-quality practical teaching and learning.
    • Providing expert technical support.
    • Maintaining accurate records.
    • Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.
    • Contributing to the effective planning and preparation of practical activities.

As a central figure in the department’s operational efficiency, the Senior Technician will help ensure that all laboratories are well-equipped, safely maintained, and fully prepared to support engaging and effective science education.

Contract Details

  • Type: Full-time, term-time plus one week contract.
