About the Role:
To continue our growth as a premier Contract Research Organisation (CRO), Pharmaron has opened a new Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) Laboratory at our Hoddesdon site. We are looking for an Senior Scientist I to join this new team. In this role, you will:
- Prepare and analyse samples and data generated from clinical AMS enabled studies, including:
- Mass balance
- Metabolite profiling and identification
- IVPK (absolute bioavailability)

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Understand (through hands-on laboratory training) the analytical techniques and procedures involved in AMS-enabled clinical studies.
- Perform the roles and responsibilities of a Senior Scientist, demonstrating competence in:
- Use and maintenance of instrumentation
- Processing of clinical samples for analysis
- Processing and QC checking data
- Other routine activities of the AMS group
- Prepare samples for analysis by AMS.
- Prepare and analyse samples by:
- Liquid Scintillation Counting (LSC)
- Liquid Chromatography (LC)
- Take responsibility for:
- Instrumentation
- Processes within the group as agreed with the Line Manager
- Review study data and prepare summaries and study updates for:
- Internal and external reporting
- Contribute to the review and QC checking of all relevant study data packages and reports prior to submission to Quality Assurance (QA) as required.
- Collaborate with:
- Other AMS team members
- Pharmaron stakeholders
- To ensure project milestones are met.
- Communicate results and status of deliverables to key stakeholders.
- Address findings arising from:
- QA audits
- Process inspections
- Collaborate with:
- Global AMS and metabolism team members
- Contribute towards:
- Continuous improvement
- Process efficiency optimization
- Contribute to the building of a high-performing, passionate team that is:
- Responsive to client needs
- By coaching and mentoring junior team members.

Requirements:
- PhD, MSc, or BSc (Hons) in:
- Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Physics
- Related subject
- Experience of executing analytical studies within a GxP setting.
- Experience of working in:
- Drug discovery and/or development projects
- Related disciplines
- Experience in managing external collaborations.
- Effective:
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively present scientific findings to colleagues and clients
- Experience in coordinating or prioritising multiple projects to meet:
- Internal and external timelines
- Effective problem-solving and analysis skills.
- Flexible mindset with the ability to take initiative.
