Company Description
MitoRx is developing new treatments to restore healthy mitochondrial metabolism in patients living with high-risk obesity. Our first-in-class small molecule asset, MTRX31, targets the elimination of ectopic fat from affected organs in people with metabolically unhealthy obesity, by restoring mitochondrial health rather than suppressing appetite. This approach has the potential to deliver durable and higher quality weight loss, lower the risk of cardiovascular complications and other serious diseases, and improve quality of life.
MitoRx offers a science‑driven, collaborative environment for professionals interested in translating cutting‑edge mitochondrial biology into meaningful clinical impact.
Role Description
MitoRx is looking for a Senior Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry to join us on a fixed-term basis, covering maternity leave from approximately August / September 2026 to May 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced medicinal chemist to step into a pivotal, hands-on role at the heart of our drug discovery programme — working closely with our R&D team, CRO partners, and DMPK vendors to keep our chemistry moving forward at pace.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
