Senior Scientist - Preclinical Histology

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Scientist to join a dynamic Preclinical Histology team supporting innovative drug discovery and development programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research by delivering high-quality histological and tissue-based data that drive critical scientific decisions.

Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate with scientists, pathologists, toxicologists, and project teams to support a diverse portfolio of therapeutic programmes across multiple disease areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform histology activities including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and digital pathology workflows.
  • Develop, optimise, and validate histological assays to support preclinical research objectives.
  • Generate, analyse, interpret, and communicate tissue-based data to project teams and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional scientists to support efficacy, safety, biomarker, and mechanism-of-action studies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, quality, and scientific capability.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation, SOPs, and compliance with applicable quality standards.
  • Mentor junior scientists and provide technical expertise within the histology function.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
