SENIOR SCIENTIST – TRANSLATIONAL BIOLOGY (12 month FTC)

SENIOR SCIENTIST – TRANSLATIONAL BIOLOGY

(12 month FTC Maternity Cover)

About Maxion

Maxion designs new class of biologics by harnessing knottins, one of nature’s most potent modulators of ion channels and G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). By combining knottins with an antibody’s drug properties, we develop transformative treatments achieving higher specificity and durability for patients with ion channel and GPCR-driven diseases. Initially focused on immunological diseases, heart disorders, and chronic pain, our KnotBody® pipeline targets previously unreachable biological mechanisms.

Founded in 2020 by distinguished biotech leaders Dr John McCafferty (CTO) and Dr Aneesh Karatt-Vellatt (CSO), Maxion leverages groundbreaking expertise from Protein phage display (pioneered by McCafferty and his Nobel-winning collaborator Dr Gregory Winter). Headquartered near Cambridge, UK, the company is backed by global blue-chip investors.

The successful candidate will contribute directly to our discovery pipeline and thrive in our dynamic, agile work environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
