Senior Security Consultant
Senior Security Consultant (Malicious Risk & Strategy) – Arup UKIMEA
About the Role

- Threat and risk analysis
- Security intelligence (as-a-service based on tailored threat briefings)
- Travel risk assessments
- Strategic security design
- Regulatory and policy affairs (including aviation security)
- Operational security advice
An opportunity has opened up for a Senior Security Consultant specialising in malicious risk and security management strategy to join Arup’s Resilience, Security & Risk team, based in the UKIMEA region.
The Opportunity
The Security Advisory practice offers a diverse suite of consultancy services, covering:
- Security Risk Assessment
- Security Strategy & Governance
- Security Operations
- Risk Culture & Awareness
- Sector Expertise: Transport (Rail, Aviation, Maritime), Infrastructure (Energy, Water, Data), Property (Sports, Healthcare, Government)
Your role will blur professional lines—supporting internal projects alongside client engagements to:
- Develop high-impact security solutions for global organisations
- Lead Security Risk Assessment and project delivery
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Shape internal methodologies and align service offerings with market demand
You’ll partner with clients—from scope definition to solution delivery—while representing Arup at a senior consultative level.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Development:
- Contribute to the long-term direction of Security Advisory offerings
- Evolve service delivery methods and tools to meet client and sector needs

Client Leadership:
- Engage internationally (UK + beyond, notably Europe) with stakeholders
- Define client risk appetites
- Identify security vulnerabilities and devise custom mitigation strategies

Project & Team Management:
- Lead project execution within Security Advisory and broader Resilience, Security & Risk
- Oversee financial performance, programme delivery, and team collaboration

Market Expansion:
- Build a new fee-generating client pipeline
- Act as both technical specialist and commercial liaison

Innovation & Improvement:
- Enhance internal systems and methodologies
- Consult on protective security measures for comprehensive risk solutions
Your Profile
Arup seeks a highly qualified, commercially astute leader with:
Essential /
- Minimum 3-year professional security experience (or certification/qualification at N/SVQ level 5+) OR
- Final degree (or equivalent) in criminal justice, international relations, political science, security risk, or engineering and Suitably Qualified Security Specialist (SQSS) permissions (BREEAM v7 2025—Hea 08)
- Proven consulting or client-facing experience advising on security
- Exceptional capability in:
- Technical clarity (explaining security risks to non-experts across all organisational levels)
- Threat/Vulnerability/Risk Assessment (TVRA) implementation
- Solutions engineering (developing sustainable, risk-proportionate answers)
- Project & team leadership (budgeting, timelines, scope definition)

Preferred /
- Consultancy experience in similar corporate or PSR-based roles
- A mix of quantitative and qualitative security risk analysis expertise
- Recognised certifications:
- MSc-SI or CSyP or RSES (GSA)
Note: This is a UK Security Clearance requirement position (~5 years’ UK residency preferred for security vetting, though exemptions may apply).
