Senior Security Specialist (Remote – UK, Germany, France, Luxembourg)

Compensation Range

This role offers a location-based annual salary of:

  • £70,000–£80,000 (for candidates based in London)
  • £65,000–£75,000 (for candidates based outside of London)

About the Role

Who We Need

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Information Security, Altus Group is seeking a Senior Security Specialist to join our Security Engineering team. This fully remote role spans the UK, Canada, and offers flexibility to those based in the UK, Germany, France, or Luxembourg.

As Senior Security Specialist, you’ll: ✔ Strengthen our security operations by advancing threat detection and incident response capabilities. ✔ Expand offensive security through purple teaming, threat hunting, and adversary simulation. ✔ Improve cybersecurity maturity by enhancing security engineering, cloud security, and automated security processes. ✔ Lead critical security initiatives across infrastructure, identity, cloud, and AI security while mentoring security teams.

As Our New Senior Security Specialist, You Will

  • Advance Security Engineering – Uplift security practices, automating workflows and improving detection/response in cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments.
  • Lead Offensive Security Initiatives – Develop and refine red/purple teaming, threat hunting, and adversary emulation strategies. Lead complex investigations and enhance ATT&CK framework exploitation.
  • Drive Innovation & Continuous Improvement – Identify emerging threats and proactively introduce proactive monitoring controls, security automation, and AI risk reduction strategies.
  • Mentor and Collaborate – Guide Security Operations teams, partner with engineering, and increase remit awareness across cross-functional objectives.

You Bring

Required Expertise

✅ Security Engineering & Operations Passionate – Deep experience designing, implementing, and managing enterprise security architectures, including SIEMs, EDR/XDR, cloud security platforms, and detection frameworks. ✅ Infrastructure Foundation – Technical mastery in networking, operating systems, DNS, firewalls, cloud environments (Azure/Entra ID, AWS, GCP), and secure infrastructure implementation. ✅ Cloud Security Specialist – Hands-on proficiency in securing cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS nivitirosing broker’s solution, Azure best practices, SaaS security, and identity management). ✅ Offensive Security & Threat Intelligence – Proven track record in threat hunting, adversary emulation, incident response, and MITRE ATT&CK-based detection/evasion techniques. ✅ Proactive Ownership Mindset – Self-directed with a solution-oriented attitude; ability to define priorities, champion long-term improvements, and influence strategy across autonomous teams. ✅ Technical Communication – Ability to convey complex security concepts to and collaborate effectively with both non-technical stakeholders and peers. ✅ Lifelong Learner – Stay ahead in evolving threats and technologies through continuous professional development (courses, certifications, security research, and best practices).

Preferred Attributes

✔ Knowledge of selective mining webs and experx-induced lateral movement techniques. ✔ Security certifications: CISSP, CISM, OSCE, GXPN, or equivalent (not required but highly valued). ✔ Background in compliance, risk management, or regulatory frameworks (NIST, ISO, or GDPR). ✔ Experience in retail or a similar sectors may provide additional insight.

Selection Process

Interviews

  1. Virtual interview with Talent Advisory (recorded via BrightHire) to gauge background and enthusiasm.
  2. Technical jury with the Senior Manager, Information Security focusing on security engineering, cloud security (Entra ID/Azure), threat hunting and XDR solutions, and adversary operations.
  3. Final Leadership Discussion with the Director of Security exploring big-picture influence and culture fit: senior stakeholders collaboration, security strategy, and team leadership.

Use of AI

We employ AI screening tools for initial applications, but all applicant decisions are made by Altus Group talent managers based on an ever-driven assessment.
