Senior SEO Manager

We're looking for a highly experienced Senior SEO Manager to lead the strategic direction, quality assurance and operational excellence of our Organic Search offering.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for owning delivery quality and consistency across the Organic Search service line, ensuring all client outputs meet agreed technical standards, strategic frameworks and industry best practice. You will work closely with client services, channel specialists and senior stakeholders to drive exceptional organic performance while developing a high-performing SEO team.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical SEO expertise with strong commercial awareness, people leadership and agency delivery experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the quality, consistency and effectiveness of all Organic Search deliverables across the agency.
  • Define, maintain and evolve SEO methodologies, frameworks, processes and quality standards.
  • Establish best-practice approaches across technical SEO, content strategy, digital PR, local SEO and enterprise search.
  • Ensure all client recommendations are data-driven, commercially relevant and aligned to
  • Lead the development of integrated SEO strategies for key clients across multiple sectors.
  • Provide senior strategic oversight on complex SEO projects and critical client accounts.
  • Review and sign off major strategic recommendations, technical audits and roadmaps.
  • Act as the senior SEO authority for both internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Support business development activity, including pitches, proposals and growth opportunities.
  • Lead, coach and mentor SEO specialists and managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Drive team capability through structured learning, knowledge sharing and skills development initiatives.
  • Create clear standards for delivery excellence and performance management.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and succession planning within the Organic Search function.
  • Develop scalable delivery processes that improve efficiency, consistency and client outcomes.
  • Monitor performance against KPIs, service standards and client expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, automation and reporting practices.
  • Ensure teams remain current with algorithm changes, emerging technologies and industry developments.

Essential Experience

  • 3–5+ years' experience within a digital marketing agency environment, delivering SEO strategies and campaigns across multiple clients.
  • Proven experience leading an SEO or Organic Search function with accountability for delivery quality, team capability and client outcomes.
  • Demonstrable success managing and developing high-performing SEO teams.
  • Strong experience creating and delivering enterprise-level SEO strategies.
  • Deep technical understanding of modern SEO principles, search engine algorithms and website optimisation techniques.
  • Experience presenting strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders and clients.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of technical SEO, content strategy, on-page optimisation and site migrations.
  • Strong proficiency with leading SEO platforms including:
    • Google Search Console
    • Google Analytics 4
    • Screaming Frog
    • Ahrefs, SEMrush or similar enterprise tools
    • Looker Studio
  • Strong understanding of performance measurement, reporting and attribution.
