The Role: Senior Improvement Practitioner (Medical/Surgical Services)

To manage and lead service improvement and governance compliance across Medical/Surgical services within the acute division, embedding a culture of continuous improvement. Work to integrate governance development, implementation, monitoring, and review as essential business practices.

Working pattern: Monday to Friday.


Key Responsibilities: In This Role, You Will

  • Lead service improvement & governance compliance, aligning with strategic priorities:
    • Manage change by liaising with key stakeholders across the organisation involved in service redesign, governance, and improvement.
    • Track and guarantee achievement of local and national targets, including service impacts on markers or defined KPIs, directing improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with relevant personnel to gather, analyse, interpret, and document data supporting service reviews.
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration:
    • Work closely with clinical teams, lead clinicians, champions, and senior managers to drive improvements grounded in clinical excellence and patient-centred care.
  • Patient and operational efficiency improvements:
    • Lead initiatives to enhance patient and carer experience while optimising service efficiency. Techniques include:
      • Process mapping
      • Demand & capacity analysis
      • Statistical process control (SPC)
  • Embed improvement culture:
    • Integral use of improvement tools and methodologies across the organisation, ensuring sustainable change.

Requirements: What You’ll Bring

  • Qualifications & experience:
    • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
    • Evidence of continued professional development.
    • Significant senior-level clinical service experience with a proven track record in delivering service change.
    • Proven capability to deliver significant service improvement in a complex healthcare environment.
