This role is based out of our New Bailey, Manchester, or One Braham London offices. We have a hybrid working model of 3 days together and 2 days wherever.
Due to the nature of the work, you will need to be eligible for security clearance+.
About The Role
The role of a Software Engineering Specialist is to design, lead and implement significant technical solutions that will help transform our internal and/or external customers.
Take ownership of a solution, including design, implementation, unit and component testing, and preparation for the solution deployment. This role is critical in keeping Secure Platforms functioning efficiently for our secure customers, who rely on BT to manage their critical networks and infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Executes complex technical decisions, technology choices and architecture for the ServiceNow platform, features and capabilities, effectively balancing short-term impact with long-term transformation
- Resolves complex and strategic issues using advanced technical knowledge, across wider industry and/or specific sectors, and develops bespoke, technically complex solutions
- Executes and contributes to the development of the ambitious and compelling technical roadmap to meet the needs of the business, engineering team, and partner teams
- Drives an engineering culture that fosters innovation and creativity while delivering high quality products with predictability and reliability
- Solves complex and escalated aspects of a project, performing coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting when necessary
- Plays a positive contributor role in the ServiceNow team, implementing the technical vision and the pursuit of innovations regarding new technologies, platform features and applications
- Implements new architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale enterprise systems
- Performs deep dive analysis, to identify issues and implement ways to improve working processes within ServiceNow and the wider Secure Platforms space
- Mentors other ServiceNow engineers, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource
- Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in ServiceNow technology
- Manages the detailed capture and refinement of requirements with stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of value propositions and contributing to the delivery of outcomes aligned to business and customer needs.
- Provides regular updates and effort estimates throughout the development and deployment lifecycle, ensuring transparency and alignment with stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Ensures the prompt resolution of incidents, maintaining clear and timely communication with customers, and escalating or informing colleagues and management as appropriate.

Essential Skills / Experience
- Service Now experience and certification (CSA, CAD, CIS or equivalent)
- Proven ability to design, configure, and implement ServiceNow solutions, and understanding of ServiceNow data model, CMDB, CSDM and core platform capabilities
- Experience with core ITIL functions (Incident, Problem, Change, Request)
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Experience building and supporting secure integrations (REST/SOAP APIs, Oauth, IntegrationHub)
