Your Role And Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Senior ServiceNow Developer to lead the development, customization, and ongoing enhancement of our ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate will bring deep, hands‑on expertise across the ServiceNow ecosystem, strong proficiency in JavaScript and UI development, and proven experience delivering solutions for IBM and public‑sector or defence clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and customization of complex ServiceNow applications and modules based on evolving business needs.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including those within IBM and public‑sector or defence environments, to architect and implement scalable ServiceNow solutions that optimise processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Build, refine, and maintain advanced reports, dashboards, workflows, and automated processes within the platform.
- Design and support robust integrations between ServiceNow and external systems using APIs, web services, and other integration frameworks.
- Ensure all development aligns with ServiceNow best practices, platform governance, coding standards, and security standards required for government or defence‑related work.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Commerical experience in ServiceNow development or similar roles.
- In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow platform, including JavaScript, Apex, and UI development.
- Strong understanding of software development principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a customer-centric approach.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) or equivalent certification.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Hands‑on experience working with ServiceNow Integration Hub, MID Server, and API‑based integrations.
- Strong understanding of Agile development practices and the ability to work effectively within iterative delivery cycles.
- Demonstrated involvement in the ServiceNow community or contributions to open‑source projects, showcasing a commitment to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Desirable Certifications For a Senior ServiceNow Developer
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (one or more modules such as ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, SecOps, or SPM)
- ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) — if applicable
- ITIL Foundation Certification (v3 or v4)
