Job Description
Location: Unit 1, 1 Orchard Way
Support the SHEQ Manager in promoting and maintaining compliance with the company’s Integrated Management System across all business units, including Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Chain of Custody requirements. The role will assist in driving a culture of continuous improvement, standardised work practices and operational excellence while supporting audits, investigations, compliance activities and quality initiatives.
This position is designed as a developmental succession role, providing leadership support to the SHEQ function with progression towards full SHEQ management responsibility over time.
About The Role
Job Responsibilities include:
- Support the SHEQ Manager in ensuring compliance with the Integrated Management System across all business units.
- Assist in promoting a positive SHEQ culture and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
- Support external audits and customer visits and participate in supplier audits as required.
- Assist with accident, incident and near miss investigations, ensuring timely reporting and effective closeout of corrective actions.
- Support root cause analysis activities to minimise risks relating to health, safety, environment and quality.
- Assist in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System to reduce waste, improve quality standards and enhance operational performance.
- Monitor SHEQ performance indicators and support the development and reporting of KPIs.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure standards, procedures and control plans are implemented and maintained effectively.
- Support the monitoring of incoming materials and production quality to ensure compliance with company specifications and standards.
- Assist with inspection and calibration activities for measuring equipment within production facilities.
- Liaise with internal departments to support product specifications, outsourcing requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in SHEQ meetings, training initiatives and communication forums to encourage engagement and awareness across the business.
- Deputise for the SHEQ Manager where required and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to progress into the SHEQ management role.
- Assist in Internal and External Compliance and Customer Audits (including ethical audits)
- Assist in Environmental Legislation compliance.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role and business needs.

About The Person
We're looking for an ambitious and proactive SHEQ professional who is ready to take the next step in their career. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A strong foundation in SHEQ and compliance, with proven experience working within manufacturing, engineering or operational environments and a sound understanding of ISO management systems and legislative requirements.
- A natural leader with management potential, who can confidently influence others, build positive working relationships and is motivated to develop into a future SHEQ Manager.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to analyse issues, identify root causes and implement practical, sustainable solutions that enhance safety, quality and operational performance.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, capable of engaging colleagues at all levels, supporting audits and investigations, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A hands-on, resilient and adaptable approach, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices, promote high standards across the business and embrace opportunities for professional development and increased responsibility.
Hours of work
42.5 hours per week Monday – Friday
Must be flexible with working hours to meet the requirements of the department.

Required Criteria
- Third level qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management, Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within a SHEQ, Quality or Manufacturing/Operational compliance role.
- Ambition and capability to progress into a SHEQ management position over time.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification).
- Working knowledge of ISO management systems including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Ability to influence and promote positive SHEQ behaviours throughout the organisation.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Excel.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across NI & GB sites as required.
- Must be flexible with working hours to meet the requirements of the department.
Desired Criteria
- NEBOSH Diploma or working towards.
- Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.
- Membership of IOSH, IEMA, CQI or equivalent professional body.
- Experience supervising or mentoring team members.
