Shopify Engineer – High-Traffic ECommerce Solutions

Location: UK | Working Hours: Remote (Standard UK Business Hours)

Product Overview

The team builds high-traffic Shopify stores for one of the world’s largest music companies, powering artist merch and digital_storefronts globally. This is an opportunity to work on sophisticated, large-scale eCommerce experiences that directly impact millions of fans, shaping how they engage with music brands.

The role thrives in a fast-moving, product-driven, and collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on performance, scalability, user experience (UX), and modern Shopify development best practices.


Role Overview

This is a deeply hands-on Shopify engineer role requiring expertise across the entire Shopify ecosystem—including themes, apps, extensions, Shopify Functions, and headless implementations. You’ll focus on high-traffic, multi-market eCommerce solutions, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability while adhering to cutting-edge standards.


What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain advanced Shopify storefronts using modern development practices.
  • Develop and customize Shopify themes with scalable architectures and reusable components.
  • Work across themes, apps, extensions, and Shopify platform capabilities.
  • Implement Shopify Functions, Pixels, and advanced commerce features where needed.
  • Contribute to headless or partially headless Shopify solutions.
  • Create high-performance eCommerce frontend and backend solutions.
  • Collaborate with designers, architects, and product teams in an Agile environment.
  • Develop well-documented, reliable code with a focus on performance and maintainability.
  • Support engineering CI/CD workflows using Git and best practices.

Required Experience

、Recruiters must confirm the following before shortlisting:

  • 8+ years of total development experience (10+ years preferred).
  • Last 3–5 years ideally dedicated to Shopify-related work.
  • At least 4–5+ years of dedicated Shopify experience, with hands-on contributions to:
    • Theme development
    • Apps / extensions
    • Shopify Functions / Pixels
    • Headless Shopify architectures

Core Technical Skills

• To be clearly visible on their CV, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Liquid (in-depth experience)
  • HTML / CSS
  • Tailwind CSS
  • JavaScript / TypeScript
  • React.js
  • Next.js / Remix
  • Node.js (or another backend environment)
  • Git / GitHub (with proof of practical usage)
  • Basic CI/CD knowledge plus:
    • Experience with GitHub Actions
    • Familiarity with Webpack (or similar bundling tools)

🔹 If the candidate’s technical stack does not reflect proven Shopify ecosystem expertise paired with these skills, they will not progress beyond screening.

  • Experience in Shopify Checkout Extensibility
  • Shopify Pixels & tracking implementation

  • Playwright (for testing automation)
  • Knowledge of unit testing frameworks
  • Experience with complex international eCommerce environments
  • Performance optimisation for high-traffic Shopify stores.
