About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated critical care nurse to join our award-winning critical care team at the Royal London hospital, where we are proud to deliver high quality clinical care to the people of East London and further afield.

The successful applicant will join a welcoming, inclusive and highly skilled team built on strong and collaborative relations with our partners and the communities we serve in our busy and acute 44-bedded critical care unit.

The Royal London Hospital is home to the London Air Ambulance and a leading specialist centre in trauma and emergency care. In addition to trauma the Royal London Hospital also provides specialist care in neurosciences, a hyper-acute stroke centre, and acute general medical, along with surgical and obstetric services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operational running of the unit, ensuring care is delivered to the highest standards with the appropriate use of resources.
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise to all relevant staff groups.
  • Provide appropriate information, reassurance and support to the relatives of the critically ill.
  • Manage a nursing team, ensuring that clear systems of communication are developed within the team and any work-related issues raised by the team are addressed.
  • To undertake the professional development review process with identified team members. Support staff with performance issues developing action plans to address developmental needs.
  • To contribute to the recruitment and retention of team members.
  • Undertake clinical audits to monitor and maintain standards of practice.
  • To utilise appropriate governance tools and structures to report and investigate critical incidents and contribute to the dissemination of findings within a non-blame culture.
  • Report and manage actual or potential risks impacting on the quality of patient care.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
