Senior Site Agent
Senior Site Agent – Energy Projects (GIS & Civil Engineering Focus)
Location: National Grid, South London
About the Role
Murphy, a leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company working with National Grid, is recruiting a Senior Site Agent focused on Energy, Transmission & Distribution to support our groundbreaking transmission and distribution projects across multiple countries.

As Senior Site Agent, you will provide site-based leadership, fostering Health & Safety (H&S) best practice, construction efficiency, and cost-effective resource management.

Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership & Safety
- Establish and enforce Health, Safety & Environment (H&SE) best practices with support from SHQE department.
- Develop and maintain key site documents, including:
- Construction Phase Plans & H&S Plans
- Risk Assessments & Method Statements
- Work Package Plans & Task Briefings
- Ensure they are updated, communicated, and understood by all personnel.
- Demonstrate leadership in promoting zero harm culture, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
- Participate and drive morning briefings, site safety reviews, and weekly progress meetings.

Project Coordination & Technical Support
- Lead or contribute to pre-construction and weekly meetings, tracking:
- KPIs (progress, safety, costs)
- Supplier compliance (fitness-to-start checks)
- Assignments & risk mitigation for subcontractors.
- Coordinate 4WLA (Workfronts, Workrates, Leadtimes, and Availability) sessions with the project team (engineering & site supervision).
- Provide technical support to site supervisors and engineers in executing plans.
- Support procurement by ensuring advantageous, compliant contract terms (e.g., NEC4 knowledge useful).
- Develop and maintain project sequencing & programmes in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Construction & Commercial Efficiency
- Promote cost-effective labour/plant use in partnership with site supervision.
- Manage resource delivery, ensuring timely, high-quality site operations.
- Demonstrate project leadership with experience managing smaller teams or trades.
- Ensure compliance and record-keeping with contractual requirements and in-house policies.
- Designinput reading & execution (GIS halls, structural framing, cladding).
Who Are We Looking For?
Technical Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification (degree preferred).
- Proven background in civil engineering, with preference given to substation experience.
- SCS Card (Black or White) completed, plus SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
- Hands-on experience in large-scale construction projects, including:
- Self-delivered delivering leading projects
- Technical expertise in retaining walls, formswork, claddings, steelwork
- Tel with NEC4 contracts (fulfilment a bonus)
- Working understanding of construction records, programme management, and supplier control.
