Senior Site Manager

Senior Site Manager – Major Residential Development

Location: Clacton-on-Sea, Essex Salary: Up to £85,000 + Comprehensive Package + 20% Bonus Sector: Residential House Building Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading UK house builder for an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead a major residential development in Clacton-on-Sea.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a highly regarded developer on a flagship scheme comprising 450+ traditionally built homes, with the development well underway. An experienced Senior Site Manager is required to lead multiple teams while maintaining the highest standards of quality, health & safety, and programme delivery.


About the Role

As Senior Site Manager, you will take overall responsibility for a large phase of the development, managing and supporting two site teams (each consisting of a Site Manager and Assistant Site Manager).

You will work closely with the Project Manager and wider construction team to ensure the successful delivery of homes to programme, budget, and quality standards, while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction results.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations of a large residential development.
  • Oversee two site-based management teams to ensure efficient delivery of the build programme.
  • Drive health and safety standards across the development.
  • Ensure high-quality workmanship and compliance with NHBC standards.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to achieve programme targets.
  • Monitor build progress, costs, and site productivity.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections and ensure timely defect resolution.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and local authorities.
  • Support and mentor Site Managers and Assistant Site Managers within your team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager or experienced Site Manager within the residential house-building sector.
  • Track record of delivering large-scale traditional build housing developments.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of NHBC standards, building regulations, and health & safety legislation.
  • Ability to manage multiple phases, teams, and subcontractors simultaneously.
  • Hold SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualifications.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
