Senior Site Manager
We don’t just build homes—we lead the way on site.
As a Senior Site Manager at Hill, you’ll take full ownership of large-scale, high-value residential projects—often £30m+—delivering quality, safety, and performance from the ground up. Whether running a standalone scheme or leading a key phase within a wider development, you’ll set the tone on site and ensure everything runs to programme, standard, and plan.
This is a leadership role for someone who’s hands-on, people-focused, and ready to drive progress every day. You’ll lead teams, manage subcontractors, and bring clarity and control to every stage of delivery.
About the Role
- A leadership position responsible for overseeing high-value residential developments.
- Hands-on management of construction activity, ensuring build quality, programme adherence, safety standards, and stakeholder satisfaction.
- People leadership: Oversee Assistant Site Managers, trainees, and subcontractors—building trust, accountability, and a culture of excellence.
- Serves as a visible, professional role model driving standards, safety, and site culture.
- Collaborates with clients, contractors, internal teams, and consultants to resolve issues and maintain momentum.
Responsibilities
- Lead construction activity to ensure quality, programme, and safety standards are met.
- Manage teams: Oversee Assistant Site Managers, trainees, and subcontractors—set expectations, develop talent, and maintain accountable delivery.
- Chair subcontractor meetings, record outcomes, and hold teams accountable.
- Drive health, safety, and environmental compliance across the entire project.
- Oversee build sequencing, short-term and long-term programming, and co-ordinate utilities.
- Ensure compliance with:
- NHBC and Zurich (insurance) standards
- Statutory regulations
- Technical specifications
- Coordinate drawings, Employer’s Requirements, and buildability reviews.
- Lead site presentation, setting a professional tone and cultural standards.
- Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and report to Project or Contracts Managers.
- Support cost control, plant usage, materials tracking, and resource planning.
- Engage with stakeholders—clients, consultants, and internal departments—to solve problems and prevent disruptions.

Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- HNC/Diploma or Degree in Construction (or equivalent industry qualifications/experience).
- Proven experience leading site teams on £30m+ residential developments.
- Strong knowledge of NHBC and statutory compliance, with regulatory flexibility.
- Skilled in programme management—balancing short-term deadlines and long-term coordination.
- Deep subcontractor engagement—performance reviews, accountability, and relationship management.
- Familiarity with coal face construction, from foundations to fit-out.
Key Skills
- Leadership — capable of managing under pressure with a focus on quality over speed.
- Communication — able to delegate clearly, drive accountability, and resolve conflict.
- Health & Safety — CSCS, SMSTS, Scaffold Inspection, and Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) certified.
- Construction tools — competent in Microsoft Office and project/contract management software.
