Location: Cambridge, UK (Roads & Infrastructure Scheme)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Site Manager or Site Manager to lead a £6–10m roads and infrastructure improvement scheme in Cambridge. Benefiting from Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), this role offers the chance to:
- Shape the design and buildability of the project from the outset.
- Drive right-first-time delivery with strong client relationships, designers, and supply chain alignment.
- Ensure high quality standards, safety, and programme compliance.
- Create a collaborative, high-performing environment that benefits both stakeholders and the public.

About You
You are an experienced Site Manager / Senior Site Manager with a track record delivering highways or civil engineering projects in live environments. You thrive in a collaborative setting, working closely with clients, designers, and supply chain partners—especially in early engagement (e.g., ECI).

Core skills & experience include:
✔ Proven leadership to motivate teams, manage multi-disciplinary works, and coordinate subcontractors. ✔ High safety & quality standards for on-site compliance. ✔ Proactive risk & change management with commercial awareness. ✔ Comfortable working in a client-facing environment, especially with local authority stakeholders. ✔ Experience with NEC contracts and transport infrastructure projects (desirable in cycleways, public realm, or highways).
Key Responsibilities
On-Site Delivery
- Manage and oversee all construction activities, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Lead site teams & subcontractors, coordinating works efficiently and to programme.
- Maintain high HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards.
- Ensure quality assurance via inspections, ITPs (Insurance & Testing Procedures), and record-keeping.
- Monitor progression against programme, identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
- Document all site permits, records, and audits.

Commercial & Contractual
- Support NEC4 compensation events, changes, and early warnings.
- Align projects with commercial best practices and project goals.
Essential Requirements
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven Site Manager experience in civil engineering/highways.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Efficient subcontractor management and multi-disciplinary coordination.
Systems & Digital Skills
- Familiarity with Procore or CEMAR is advantageous (not mandatory).
- Confidence in site reporting, programme tracking, and document management.
Desirable Skills & Attributes
🔹 SMSTS (or equivalent) 🔹 Manager-level CSCS Card 🔹 First Aid at Work Certification 🔹 Full UK driving licence
