The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Site Manager to join a highly respected, tier-one main contractor delivering a £20m education project in Newport. This is a key role on a flagship scheme, working closely with the Lead Project Manager to ensure successful delivery from construction through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Project Manager in the day-to-day running of the site
  • Oversee subcontractors to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard
  • Manage site operations including programme adherence, logistics, and quality control
  • Ensure strict compliance with health & safety regulations and company procedures
  • Coordinate with design teams and stakeholders to resolve any site issues
  • Monitor progress and provide regular updates to senior management
  • Drive high standards of workmanship and ensure project milestones are achieved

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager with a recognised main contractor
  • Strong track record delivering projects in the £10m–£30m range
  • Experience working with well-known contractors across South Wales and/or the South West (either side of the Severn Bridge)
  • Education or healthcare project experience is highly desirable
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and maintain programme deadlines
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, H&S, and quality standards

Qualifications

  • SMSTS (essential)
  • CSCS (Black/Gold Card)
  • First Aid at Work
  • Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)
