Senior Site Manager

Senior Site Manager – Construction (Groundworks Focus)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Site Manager to oversee construction projects from inception to completion, with a special focus on groundworks (a core requirement for this phase of projects).

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage site operations, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards
  • Monitor and deliver against budgets and timelines
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety regulations (both in practice and compliance)

This is a long-term opportunity for a sites-based role, starting ASAP in Salisbury, Wiltshire, with a progressive track to larger-scale projects.

Compensation: £380-400 per day (PAYE only)


Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all on-site activities, ensuring project specs, schedules, and budgets are met.
  • Oversee site operations, resource allocation, team workflows, and quality control.
  • Supervise site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders, providing updates and resolving concerns.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, fostering a secure working environment.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on project status, risks, and issues to senior management.

  • Education projects, such as schools or universities

Experience & Competencies

  • Proven management experience in construction or civil engineering, with a focus on groundworks.
  • Strong track record of supervising diverse teams and leading high-profile construction projects.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.
  • Outstanding communication skills to liaise internally with stakeholders, clients, and contractors.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, ensuring proactive resolution of on-site challenges.

Essential Qualifications: ✔ SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) ✔ CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) ✔ First Aid Certificate ✔ Enhanced DBS Check (required for the role)
