Senior Site Reliability Engineer (2 Openings)

Location: London, UK (Hybrid – 3 Days Work From Office)
Contract Duration: 6-12 Months
Experience Required: 15+ Years

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a strong background in Microsoft Azure, Terraform, and modern Site Reliability Engineering practices. This is a lead-level role requiring both deep technical expertise and the ability to provide technical leadership across engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of overall IT experience, including 5+ years of dedicated Site Reliability Engineering experience, with extensive hands-on expertise in Azure cloud platforms, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Kubernetes, automation, CI/CD, observability, and platform engineering.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and continuously improving highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient cloud platforms while driving engineering best practices, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, architecture, and development of highly available and resilient cloud platforms.
  • Act as the Technical Lead for Scrum teams, providing technical guidance and mentoring engineers.
  • Design scalable, secure, and reliable solutions using Microsoft Azure.
  • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Develop and maintain Kubernetes (AKS) based cloud infrastructure.
  • Drive Site Reliability Engineering practices across engineering teams.
  • Define and improve Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Error Budgets.
  • Automate operational processes to eliminate manual effort and reduce operational toil.
  • Ensure platform reliability, scalability, availability, and performance.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production incidents and drive permanent fixes.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architects, Project Managers, and Engineering teams.
  • Support production systems while continuously improving reliability and performance.
  • Drive platform modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure Operational Acceptance and Service Fundamental processes are followed during software development and releases.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence.
  • Influence engineering standards, best practices, and technical roadmaps.
  • Provide strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder management.

Preferred Experience

  • 15+ years of overall IT experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of dedicated Site Reliability Engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in enterprise environments.
  • Extensive Terraform implementation experience in production.
  • Experience building and managing Kubernetes (AKS) platforms.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, automation, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience implementing observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, or Azure Monitor.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and driving technical initiatives.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer-facing skills.
