The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer II to support mission-critical applications in the UK’s national payment infrastructure (FPS and CTS). This role is perfect for an individual thriving in a collaborative, agile environment, with a passion for reliability, continuous improvement, and modern technology.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide second-line support for mission-critical applications, upholding service priorities and operational standards
- Support live production environments, including a 24/7 on-call duty rotation
- Deliver hotfixes, tooling improvements, and system housekeeping
- Collaborate in a cross-functional Scrum team, contributing to application design, delivery, and technical consultancy
- Manage and implement changes, releases, and fixes while adhering to governance processes
- Support and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities, including testing, risk management, and alignment with corporate strategy
- Work with third-party suppliers to resolve issues and escalate to third-line support when required
- Ensure traceability from business requirements to acceptance criteria
- Partner with Service Management to resolve incidents, define enhancements, and optimise system performance
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date technical documentation and artefacts
Connex Domain Experience (Preference Desired)
Candidates possess experience in the following production environments:
- HP NonStop systems
- Pathway, GoldenGate, and electronic file transfer tools
- TACL, TAL, COBOL, SQL (Enscribe), Enform
- TACL scripting
- ATM switching, transaction processing, and financial networks
- Card authentication, authorization, and EMV standards
- Protocols and standards (ISO8583, VISA, Mastercard, LIS5)
- HSMs, cryptology, and TLS
- Source code management and controlled deployments
- Full SDLC lifecycle experience (design, development, testing, implementation, support)
Additional Responsibilities
- Drive innovation in production support, spotting opportunities for automation and tooling improvements
- Contribute to production support strategy and roadmaps, including technology selection
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement solutions
- Act in Agile deployments as part of a Scrum team using Safe Agile
- Independently investigate production issues and conduct root cause analysis

Skills & Experience
- Strong communication, organisational, and time management skills
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems under pressure
- Experience in financial services or payments
- Familiarity with ITIL practices, change management, and release planning
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and team-based delivery
- Extensive experience with functional and non-functional deployments
- A programming or web technologies background is beneficial
- Analytical, innovative mindset with an emphasis on continuous improvement and tooling development
