Is this the role for you?
CBS News is looking for an experienced Senior Social First Producer to join our London bureau. This is a senior editorial role for a producer who understands how audiences discover, follow and share news across social platforms, and who can help shape international storytelling from the start of the reporting process.
You will work closely with correspondents, reporters, field producers, the Foreign Editor and social teams in New York to develop platform-native coverage for breaking news, major global events, investigations and enterprise reporting. Rather than treating social content as an add-on, you will help make it part of how stories are planned, gathered, produced and published.
This role would suit a senior producer with strong news judgement, proven social storytelling experience and the confidence to advise editorial teams on how to reach audiences with accuracy, speed and impact.
What will you be doing?
- Lead social-first thinking across international news coverage, from story planning through to publication.
- Partner with correspondents, reporters and field producers to identify social storytelling opportunities before, during and after reporting.
- Develop editorial approaches for breaking news, major global events, investigations and enterprise stories across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X and emerging platforms.
- Produce original platform-native content, including field-shot video, explainers, behind-the-scenes reporting and correspondent-led storytelling.
- Edit and publish high-quality social video, graphics and other digital content to deadline, while maintaining CBS News editorial standards.
- Act as the main link between the London bureau and CBS News social teams in New York, helping align editorial priorities, audience insights, platform strategy and visual identity.
- Guide correspondents and producers on social newsgathering, audience engagement and platform-specific storytelling.
- Monitor platform trends, audience behaviour and emerging formats, using those insights to inform editorial decisions.
- Help build a consistent, recognisable social voice and visual style for CBS News’ international coverage.
- Support fast, accurate responses to breaking news and trending conversations, ensuring coverage reaches audiences where they consume news.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Excellent video production and editing skills, with experience creating content that feels native to each platform.
- Experience working directly with reporters, correspondents, producers or editorial leaders to shape coverage plans.

- A thoughtful, collaborative approach to giving guidance, sharing ideas and bringing others into social-first storytelling.
- An interest in international news and how global stories can be made clear, accurate and engaging for social audiences.
