Senior Social Media Manager

Company: VML

Hybrid working: Working from home / Sea Containers office, London, SE1

At VML, we are a beacon of innovation and growth in an ever-evolving world. Our heritage is built upon a century of combined expertise, where creativity meets technology, and diverse perspectives ignite inspiration. With the merger of VMLY&R and Wunderman Thompson, we have forged a new path as a growth partner that is part creative agency, part consultancy, and part technology powerhouse.

Our global family now encompasses over 30,000 employees across 150+ offices in 64 markets, each contributing to a culture that values connection, belonging, and the power of differences. Our expertise spans the entire customer journey building connected brands that drive growth for our clients. We do this by leveraging our 3 core practices; Brand experience, Customer experience and Commerce. Within these practices we offer expertise across communications, commerce, consultancy, CRM, data, production, and technology. We deliver end-to-end solutions that result in revolutionary work.

The Role: Senior Social Media Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Media Manager who will drive social operations for a leading global brand. You'll be a trusted client counsellor, coordinating activity and the VML social team to deliver truly social activation.

You will become a "go-to" social guardian, helping the brand make the most of what social and VML has to offer. You'll own the social delivery for the client, working with social strategy and content creators, as well as the broader VML agency team, to bring it all together.

If you're passionate about social media at scale, have your finger on the pulse, can manage a complex content calendar, and possess exceptional communication skills; we want to hear from you! This opportunity is primed for someone that's looking to deliver best-in-class social, whilst learning and upskilling themselves with a team of specialists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Leadership: Work with the account lead to steer clients through every aspect of social activation, building a collaborative and high-trust relationship that can result in the best possible outcomes. Proactively uncover new opportunities for the brand's social execution.
  • Collaboration: Foster strong collaborative relationships within the social team and wider VML team, working closely with strategy & planning, data & insights, client engagement, and creative. Begin to delegate tasks and share responsibility for outcomes.
  • Content Coordination: Manage the pipeline of social content across multiple sources (including UGC and influencers), matching client needs with a strategic approach, to coordinate content creation and curation ahead of publishing.
  • Presentation Skills: Present to senior clients and internal teams in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner, including new proposals, status updates, and performance reporting; all often of a highly complex nature. Respond spontaneously to issues or questions that arise.
  • Social Best Practice: Use a truly native and broad understanding of everything social (from LinkedIn to TikTok, from Stories to TopView ads) in conjunction with social strategy to guide and inspire clients and internal teams. Share this knowledge proactively with others.
  • Brand Guardianship: Understand and embody the needs of the brand, matched with social, and how the different aspects of the brand need to show up (from personal to business, and from more serious to more fun).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
