Senior Social Value Advisor
Senior Social Value Advisor – Calderdale Hospital Project

Laing O’Rourke are currently seeking a Senior Social Value Advisor to join our team on the Calderdale Hospital project. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering measurable social value outcomes on a flagship healthcare development, ensuring a lasting impact on the local community.
About the Role
Reporting into the project leadership team, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of the project’s Social Value strategy. This involves embedding commitments throughout the project lifecycle to maximise positive outcomes for local communities, businesses, and people.
The role requires expertise in:
- Programme and project management, including governance, risk, and stakeholder engagement
- Collaborating with VCSE (Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise) organisations, SMEs, clients, and internal teams
- Strong circumstantial awareness of West Yorkshire, its networks, and key stakeholders
Play a transformative role in healthcare infrastructure with community-focused impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the Social Value Delivery Plan in alignment with client objectives, project strategy, and organisational goals
- Lead programme management of Social Value activities, including:
- Planning, governance, risk management, and KPI monitoring
- Partnership development with VCSEs, educators, SMEs, and community groups
- Serve as the primary Social Value advisor to the client, managing engagement and presenting performance metrics
- Embed Social Value commitments into procurement processes and partnerships across the supply chain
- Monitor, measure, and report Social Value outcomes via data analysis, case studies, and performance dashboards
- Strengthen stakeholder relationships by driving transparent governance and accountable reporting
- Support business goals such as new project bids and competition submissions with tailored inroads
- Share industry best practices and support organisational learning on Social Value

About You
Passionate about positive social impact, you thrive in delivering programmes that drive change—especially within construction and infrastructure.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Strong track record in programme/project management with expertise in:
- Governance frameworks
- Risk assessment and contingency planning
- Proven success in delivering Social Value initiatives—particularly in:
- Construction, infrastructure, or infrastructure-adjacent sectors
- Status-linked community investment
- Extensive experience working with VCSE organisations and SMEs to nurture cohesive partnerships
- Knowledge of embedding Social Value in:
- Procurement strategies
- Supply chain integration
- Exceptional stakeholder management, including:
- Client-facing engagement
- Cross-terminal communication
- Local regional knowledge (West Yorkshire preferred) of:
- Key social priorities (employment, education, skills, regeneration)
- High-impact community movements
- Subject-matter specialist in measuring, analysing, and reporting Social Value for organisational accountability
- Strong communication skills, with experience adapting messaging to stakeholder needs

Desirable Knowledge & Incentives
- Familiarity with Laing O’Rourke’s Sustainability Strategy and alignment with pre-existing Social Value targets
- Extensive network of supportive VCSEs, councils, and regenerative planning bodies
- Experience leading large-scale, long-term change programmes in healthcare, community development, or education
- Other equity-focused initiatives currency (e.g. Beyond 2020 priorities; decarbonisation-linked social value)
