About the Role
At Birmingham Children’s Trust, we are seeking Social Work Assistants to join our Children in Care Teams. As a key member of the team, you will support Social Workers in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Birmingham’s most vulnerable children and young people.
Your work will include:
- Supporting young people to maintain family contact
- Building trusting relationships through direct work
- Collaborating with multi-agency partners (health, education, police, etc.)

About You
We’re searching for a passionate, compassionate, and committed individual who is dedicated to making a lasting difference for children and young people.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working with children, young people, and/or their families
- Ability to collaborate effectively with partner agencies and professionals
- A genuine dedication to child-led support and improving wellbeing
- Full UK driving licence, with access to a vehicle for work purposes and willingness to arrange business use insurance

Desirable Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals and families in complex, challenging circumstances, demonstrating empathy, resilience, and professionalism
- Strong communication skills, including clear verbal, written, and interpersonal engagement with diverse audiences
