Senior Practitioner – Safeguarding Team
A Senior Practitioner in the Safeguarding Team manages a more complex caseload of children compared to other Social Workers. This role demands a higher level of experience and knowledge, providing the Practitioner with enhanced autonomy in decision-making and case progression. Core responsibilities include:
- Writing regular assessments and determining threshold applications
- Conducting home visits
- Undertaking direct work with families
- Developing and implementing care plans
- Chairing relevant meetings
- Maintaining accurate case recordings in alignment with organisational policies and procedures
Additional Responsibilities
Senior Practitioners also play a key role in:
- Supervising student social workers and/or ASYEs (Associate Social Workers)
- Supporting learning and development within the broader team
- Leading peer supervision sessions
- Deputising for the Team Leader when required
