Senior Practitioner – Safeguarding Team

A Senior Practitioner in the Safeguarding Team manages a more complex caseload of children compared to other Social Workers. This role demands a higher level of experience and knowledge, providing the Practitioner with enhanced autonomy in decision-making and case progression. Core responsibilities include:

  • Writing regular assessments and determining threshold applications
  • Conducting home visits
  • Undertaking direct work with families
  • Developing and implementing care plans
  • Chairing relevant meetings
  • Maintaining accurate case recordings in alignment with organisational policies and procedures

Additional Responsibilities

Senior Practitioners also play a key role in:

  • Supervising student social workers and/or ASYEs (Associate Social Workers)
  • Supporting learning and development within the broader team
  • Leading peer supervision sessions
  • Deputising for the Team Leader when required
