Job Title: Senior Social Worker - Family Safeguarding

Location: Telford and Wrekin Council

Hourly Pay Rate: £30.57(Umbrella)

About the Role

Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking a dedicated Senior Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive service, making a real difference to children and families while managing complex safeguarding cases.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will be responsible for managing a varied and complex caseload, undertaking assessments, care planning, and delivering effective interventions to ensure positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse and complex caseload within Family Safeguarding.
  • Complete assessments, care planning, and interventions to support children and families.
  • Assess and manage risk, making informed, evidence-based decisions.
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes and court proceedings where required.
  • Apply relevant legislation, policies, and best practice to deliver child-focused services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with children, families, and multi-agency professionals.
  • Deliver a range of interventions and review outcomes, adapting plans where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality reports, including court documentation.
  • Undertake preventative work aimed at reducing risk and strengthening family resilience.
  • Support multi-agency working and contribute to continuous service improvement.

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience working within Children's Services.
  • Strong experience in safeguarding, assessments, child protection, and care planning.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and make sound professional decisions.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant children's social care legislation, policies, and frameworks.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
