Job Title: Senior Social Worker - Family Safeguarding
Location: Telford and Wrekin Council
Hourly Pay Rate: £30.57(Umbrella)
About the Role
Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking a dedicated Senior Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive service, making a real difference to children and families while managing complex safeguarding cases.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will be responsible for managing a varied and complex caseload, undertaking assessments, care planning, and delivering effective interventions to ensure positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse and complex caseload within Family Safeguarding.
- Complete assessments, care planning, and interventions to support children and families.
- Assess and manage risk, making informed, evidence-based decisions.
- Contribute to safeguarding processes and court proceedings where required.
- Apply relevant legislation, policies, and best practice to deliver child-focused services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with children, families, and multi-agency professionals.
- Deliver a range of interventions and review outcomes, adapting plans where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality reports, including court documentation.
- Undertake preventative work aimed at reducing risk and strengthening family resilience.
- Support multi-agency working and contribute to continuous service improvement.

- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience working within Children's Services.
- Strong experience in safeguarding, assessments, child protection, and care planning.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads and make sound professional decisions.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant children's social care legislation, policies, and frameworks.
- Strong communication, assessment, and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
