Liquid Personnel is recruiting an experienced Senior Social Worker for its client’s Mental Health Team based in Cardiff. This is a full-time agency role offering £35–£38 per hour (Umbrella) and the opportunity to work within a well-established Community Mental Health Team supporting adults with complex mental health needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated Social Worker looking to take the next step in their career. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key role in supporting the Team Manager, supervising colleagues, managing complex and high-risk cases, and driving high-quality practice to achieve positive outcomes for service users and carers.

What will your responsibilities be?
As a Senior Social Worker within the Mental Health Team, you will:
- Manage a complex caseload of adults experiencing significant mental health needs.
- Complete strengths-based assessments, care planning, reviews, and risk assessments.
- Undertake safeguarding investigations and interventions in line with legislation, policy, and statutory guidance.
- Support individuals to maximise their independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, health professionals, and partner agencies to coordinate effective support plans.
- Prepare reports and attend decision-making forums, panels, safeguarding meetings, and professional reviews.
- Provide casework supervision and professional guidance to Social Workers and Social Work Assistants.
- Support newly qualified Social Workers, students, and colleagues managing complex cases.
- Undertake complex and high-risk work, including cases involving risks to liberty, wellbeing, and personal safety.
- Contribute to service development, training initiatives, and continuous practice improvement.
- Assist with duty planning and deputise for the Team Manager when required.
- Monitor outcomes and identify trends relating to unmet or inappropriately met needs.
- Maintain accurate records and effectively utilise corporate systems and databases.

Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
- Current Social Care Wales registration
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Significant post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care or Mental Health Services
- Experience managing complex caseloads within a statutory setting
- Experience supervising or supporting colleagues
- Strong understanding of mental health, safeguarding, and social care legislation
- Excellent assessment, risk management, analytical, and report-writing skills
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification
- Experience working within a Community Mental Health Team
- Experience supporting staff performance and quality improvement initiatives
- Ability to speak Welsh or other community languages
