Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer - Specialized Clouds (MSC) Silver Edge AI

Overview

Join the Microsoft Specialized Clouds (MSC) Silver Edge AI team, where we empower our customers to harness the full potential of Microsoft Azure AI services across MSC. Our mission is to enable secure, scalable, and reliable AI capabilities for sovereign environments. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer who thrives in building complex distributed systems and is passionate about driving technical excellence across teams.

This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI and cloud technologies, troubleshoot complex systems, and shape the reliability of AI services that support critical MSC operations.


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain distributed systems that power Azure AI services in Disconnected environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across multiple services and layers of infrastructure
  • Collaborate with partner teams to ensure seamless delivery and integration of AI capabilities
  • Support and enhance existing AI services by improving reliability, scalability, and maintainability
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to ensure high availability of services
  • Contribute to engineering best practices and advocate for operational excellence
  • Write clear, maintainable code and documentation to support the long-term sustainability of systems
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and operational excellence

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications (RQs/MQs)

  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and distributed systems design
  • Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure)
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C#, Python, TypeScript)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AKS)
  • Familiarity with observability tools and techniques for diagnosing system behavior
  • Passion for building reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross-functional teams

Additional Requirement

Candidates must have UK national security vetting to SC (Security Check) level.


Compensation

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the United Kingdom is £74,700.00 – £122,600.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
