Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)
📍 Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)
💰 Salary: £80,000 - £100,000
🕒 Type: Permanent
My client is one of the fastest-growing fitness technology platforms globally, providing software that enables coaches, gyms and fitness brands to build, deliver and scale digital training programmes. Following several years of exceptional growth, the business is expanding its London engineering team to support the next stage of platform evolution.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design and build scalable backend services using Ruby on Rails
- Develop and maintain APIs powering web and mobile applications
- Build full-stack features across Rails and Vue.js
- Own payment and subscription functionality, including Stripe integrations
- Improve application performance, reliability and scalability
- Build background processing and real-time features
- Contribute to AWS infrastructure, CI/CD and deployment pipelines
- Help modernise the platform and drive engineering best practices
- Work closely with Product and Engineering leadership on technical direction

What They're Looking For
- Strong commercial experience with Ruby on Rails
- Comfortable working across both backend and frontend (Vue.js preferred)
- Experience building scalable SaaS products and REST APIs
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, background processing and cloud platforms
- Experience with AWS, Docker and CI/CD pipelines
- Exposure to payment systems (Stripe preferred) is highly desirable
- Strong testing mindset and experience delivering production-quality software
