Senior Software Engineer

- Media processing pipelines for scalable forensic workflows
- Browser-native forensic tools to amplify investigative capabilities

- Building systems for hundreds of thousands of global users
=this role is based at Axon’s London office under a hybrid schedule. In-person collaboration is key, with strong recommendations for Tuesdays to Fridays on-site. Your Responsibilities
Location: London, United Kingdom Reports To: Director of Engineering for Devices and Forensics (DEMS UK)
Core Duties:
- Technical Leadership: Champion the development of high-performance forensic capabilities, including media processing pipelines, forensic tooling, playback systems, and cutting-edge video formats.
- System Architecture: Design robust, scalable solutions spanning applications and services. Focus on sustainability, performance, and adaptability as requirements evolve.
- Cross-Team Alignment: Lead rigorous design reviews and evolution of technical standards to maintain cohesion across globally distributed teams.
- Design to Delivery: Interpret unclear or ambiguous requirements into clear technical directions—translating high-level needs into actionable roadmaps for engineering teams.
- Quality Bar Raising: Mentor engineers at all levels, shaping engineering best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Knowledge Sharing: Represent the team’s technical vision upward to leadership and externally across the organization. Clarify complex concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What You Bring
Requirements:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of professional software engineering.
- Mentorship Insight: A proven track record of mentoring engineers at multiple levels and setting the technical standard in an organization.
- Technical Breadth: Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals and proficient across languages/paradigms.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent oral and written clarification of abstract concepts to diverse audiences. Skill in gathering consensus and aligning geographically dispersed teams.
- Translation Mastery: Ability to synthesize customer needs and business goals into concrete plans and deliverables.
Desirable Skills:
- Forensic/Media Account: Hands-on experience with video processing, codecs, streaming, or format development.
- Azure Expertise: Experience with Azure cloud services.
- Language & Tech Stack: Mobile literacy in modern tooling (e.g., TypeScript/React, .NET, Python, Java, or C++).
