Senior Software Engineer

Senior Full Stack Engineer (Backend leaning/Node/AWS)

Location: Remote First – must be UK-based (with London HQ attendance once a month)

Salary: £80,000 – £90,000 + 10% performance bonus


About the Role

We’re collaborating with a leading e-commerce company to strengthen their engineering team with a Senior Full Stack Engineer (backend-focused).

Non-negotiable key requirements:

  • Proficiency in TypeScript
  • Backend development in Node.js
  • Expertise in AWS (Serverless)
  • Experience with event-driven architecture (EDA)

Responsibilities

  • Write code, unit tests, and proof-of-concept solutions
  • Lead code reviews and participate in sprint-based testing
  • Mentor junior engineers and support career growth
  • Design and implement innovative backend and frontend solutions
  • Contribute to system specification, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and ongoing support
  • Analyse technical challenges and propose scalable solutions
  • Collaborate with product engineering and wider business teams

Requirements

Core Technical Skills

  • TypeScript (must apply to both backend and frontend)
  • Node.js for serverless microservices (AWS Lambda, API Gateway)
  • AWS EventBridge for message-driven workflows
  • DynamoDB for storing and retrieving high-volume transactional data
  • Stripe/PayPal-inspired payment gateway integrations
  • Terraform/Serverless Framework for Infrastructure as Code
  • Testing: Proficiency with Jest (backend) and Playwright
