The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (Kotlin) to join a growing product engineering team. You will be responsible for designing and building integrations that connect AI-driven healthcare products with external care, medical, and hospital software platforms.
Senior Backend Engineer (Kotlin)
- Type: Contract
- Day Rate: £500 per day outside IR35
- Location: Fully remote with the occasional travel to the US
- Length: 3-6 months initially
This is a hands-on backend engineering role focused on API development, integration architecture, scalable system design, and end-to-end ownership.

- Design and develop integrations between internal products and third-party healthcare software platforms.
- Build scalable, secure, and maintainable APIs using Kotlin.
- Take ownership of projects from concept and design through implementation, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Create thoughtful and sustainable data models for complex business requirements.
- Collaborate closely with customers, partners, and internal teams to deliver successful integrations.
- Establish and promote engineering best practices and API standards.
- Ensure reliable and efficient data flow between multiple systems and platforms.
- Contribute to the architecture and evolution of backend services within a fast-growing environment.

Required Experience:
- Several years of commercial backend development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin and Coroutines.
- Proven experience designing and developing REST APIs and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Experience integrating with third-party applications, platforms, and external systems.
- Strong understanding of scalable backend architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience designing robust data models and backend services.
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of technical solutions.
