Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer (Hybrid - Taunton) £50,000–£60,000 + Bonus + Training + Progression + Benefits

About the Role Are you a Senior Software Engineer seeking a hands-on role where you can:

  • Take ownership of architecture and technical direction?
  • Build high-quality software interfacing with industrial hardware?
  • Work across modern service-based platforms and legacy WPF applications in an automated electrical testing environment?

This is your chance to shape systems, drive best practices, and develop robust, maintainable solutions relied upon globally.You’ll collaborate with electrical, systems, and test engineers across the full lifecycle—from concept & design to delivery & long-term support.

You’ll tackle open-ended technical challenges, lead design discussions, and guide the evolution of microservice platforms alongside legacy WPF products. The environment is collaborative, quality-driven, and agile, with projects spanning short sprints to long-term programmes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain desktop/web applications using:
    • C#
    • WPF
    • Modern web frameworks (Vue.js)
  • Lead software architecture and scalable, maintainable solution design
  • Contribute to microservice architecture and Azure-based modernisation
  • Maintain and optimise legacy systems while future-proofing development
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams in an Agile environment
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and CI/CD pipelines

Requirements

As a Senior Software Engineer, we’re looking for:

  • Strong commercial/industrial experience
  • Deep expertise in:
    • C#
    • WPF
    • Modern software design principles (e.g., SOLID)
  • Hands-on experience in architectural decision-making
  • Advantageous:
    • Exposure to industrial systems, electronics, or hardware-integrated software
    • Experience across the full software lifecycle
