Principal Python/Django Developer
Synapri are looking for a Principal Python/Django Engineer to play a key role in designing, developing, and improving modern digital platforms. You will work closely with engineers, architects, product teams, and stakeholders to deliver robust solutions within a secure government environment.
You will be expected to provide technical leadership, champion engineering best practices, and help shape the direction of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex applications using Python and Django
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams
- Design secure, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions
- Review code and promote engineering best practices
- Collaborate with architects, developers, product owners, and delivery teams
- Support continuous improvement across development processes and tooling
- Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and drive effective solutions
- Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy

Essential Experience
- Extensive commercial experience with Python and Django
- Proven experience operating at Principal Engineer / Lead Engineer level
- Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns
- Experience building and maintaining secure, high-performance applications
- Excellent knowledge of backend engineering principles
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions

Clearance Requirements
- Active SC (Security) Clearance (highly desirable)
- Candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance and work within a government environment.
Contract Details
- Contract Type: Contract
- IR35 Status: Inside IR35
- Working Pattern: Mostly remote
- Travel: Occasional travel required to multiple office locations
- Clearance: SC Clearance required
