About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Manchester, Gloucester, or London. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers the opportunity to work onsite and be part of a specialized engineering environment. As a Senior Software Engineer at Raytheon, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying critical software solutions across various business sectors. You will work within a cross-functional team, collaborating with stakeholders and peers to deliver innovative products that meet stringent security and performance standards. Due to the nature of our work, all candidates must currently hold security clearance at the eDV level.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development with experience across multiple technical domains. Essential qualifications include:
- Proven experience in full-stack development within an agile environment, building enterprise-grade web applications or backend services.
- Proficiency in Java development, particularly with Spring Boot framework.
- Experience with modern front-end technologies such as JavaScript frameworks like React or Vue.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS or Azure.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Experience in unit testing and test automation to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git, including branching strategies and pull-request workflows.
- Experience with data visualization tools or techniques is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and building robust, scalable software solutions following industry best practices.
- Collaborating effectively with stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Contributing to the successful completion of project milestones, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
- Participating in code reviews, providing mentorship to junior team members, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Engaging in technical discussions to define architectural direction and best practices within the team.
- Implementing and maintaining automated testing frameworks to ensure software reliability and performance.
- Contributing to documentation, deployment, and operational procedures for software solutions.
- Staying updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
