What you’ll do:
The team supports and enhances all technology-based services to AHJ-Miller with the aim of supporting and extending the business’ service range and excellence. Activities are carried out and managed against the Corporate Business Plan and Board/Business Unit priorities.

- Develop, maintain, and enhance a suite of in house applications built in Visual Studio (primarily Visual Basic) and Microsoft Office–based solutions.
- Design, execute, and document robust software testing to ensure reliability, performance, and a seamless user experience.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve system architecture, modernise legacy components, and enhance reporting and application capabilities.
- Collaborate with third party software providers to deliver secure, scalable, and well structured integration projects.
- Administer, monitor, and optimise SQL Server databases to ensure high availability, data integrity, and operational performance.
- Conduct advanced data analysis and produce accurate, insightful reporting using SQL Server and associated tools.
- Provide technical support and guidance to IT colleagues, contributing to a high performing engineering culture.
- Train, mentor, and support junior and mid level software engineering staff, promoting strong development practices and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for applications, tools, workflows, and reporting assets, ensuring continuity, clarity, and audit readiness.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, modern engineering practices, and tools relevant to software development, automation, and data management.

Qualifications:
- A Levels or equivalent education.
- Strong knowledge and practical use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of Lloyd’s, London Market, and international insurance operations.
- Familiarity with key processes such as underwriting workflows, documentation standards, and market systems.
- Experience in a technical role within the Lloyd’s or London Market insurance sector (highly desirable).
- Experience in policy processing, slip production, or supporting renewals activity.
- Exposure to working with cross functional teams and supporting operational/technical processes within an insurance environment.
