Senior Software Engineer
Senior Software Engineer – AI-Powered Financial Operating System
At ANNA Money, one of the UK’s fastest-growing fintechs, we’re building the AI-powered financial operating system for small businesses—empowering freelancers, founders, and SMEs to run their businesses with less admin, friction, and repetitive tasks. Our platform merges banking, payments, invoicing, bookkeeping, tax solutions, and company formations into a seamless, AI-driven experience trusted by 230,000+ customers.
Our long-term vision is to create the world’s first AI-powered operational employee—an intelligent assistant that handles the tedious day-to-day work, freeing business owners to focus on growth.
The Challenges & Opportunities
We’re tackling complex engineering problems across:
- AI and automation (spotting patterns, reducing manual work)
- Financial infrastructure (trust, compliance, security)
- Distributed systems (scalability, resilience)
- Real-time data processing (fast, reliable decision-making)
- Product experience (blending AI with human workflows)
- Operational tooling (smarter automation pipelines)
This isn’t maintenance—it’s building the future. Your work will shape architecture, tooling, and technical direction as we scale.
The Role: Senior Software Engineer
We’re looking for chief architects who care about product impact as much as engineering excellence. If you thrive in high-trust, outcome-driven environments where your decisions directly influence success, this is the place for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Build scalable backend systems and customer-facing products
- Design clean, maintainable, high-quality code (scalability, reliability)
- Collaborate deeply with product, design, and data teams
- Solve hard system-wide challenges (distributed tech, workflow automation)
- Introduce architectural improvements (microservices, data pipelines, security)
- Drive engineering standards, performance optimisations, and DevEx
- Help shape ANNA’s technical culture (best practices, career growth)
We deploy 750+ times per month—your engineering must deliver speed without sacrifice.
Your Toolkit
We use:
- Languages: Python, TypeScript
- Frontend: React, Flutter
- Data: PostgreSQL, MongoDB
- Flow Control: RabbitMQ
- Orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm
- Cloud: AWS/GCP

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
