Are you a Senior Software Engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and building high-impact products at scale?
HireQ Talent is partnering with an innovative health technology company that is transforming how clinical research is conducted across the globe. Their platform helps eliminate manual processes, unlock critical healthcare data, and accelerate the delivery of new treatments to patients worldwide.
Following significant growth across the UK, Europe, and North America, they are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team and play a key role in building secure, scalable, cloud-native services.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll work within a high-performing cross-functional team of Backend, Frontend, QA, and DevOps specialists to design, develop, and optimise modern microservices and APIs that power a market-leading healthcare platform.
This is an opportunity to influence architecture, drive engineering best practice, and contribute to products making a genuine difference in healthcare and clinical research.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs
- Owning features from concept through to deployment and continuous improvement
- Collaborating closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and Engineering teams
- Driving technical excellence through code reviews, testing, and engineering standards
- Improving platform performance, reliability, and security
- Supporting cloud-native deployments and operational resilience
- Contributing to technical design discussions and architectural decisions
- Creating clear technical documentation and API specifications
- Identifying opportunities to simplify systems and improve delivery velocity

What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Strong experience building and delivering production-grade REST APIs
- Commercial experience with modern backend technologies (Python/FastAPI highly desirable)
- Expertise designing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and external services
- Strong automated testing practices across unit, integration, and API testing
- Experience building and deploying containerised applications using Docker
- Proven success working in Agile, cross-functional engineering environments
Technical Expertise
- API-first development and OpenAPI design principles
- Modern architecture patterns and scalable service design
- Database modelling, ORM frameworks, and migration tooling
- Security best practices including authentication, authorisation, encryption, and secrets management
- Cloud platforms (Azure experience highly beneficial)
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
- Observability, monitoring, logging, and performance optimisation

Nice to Have
- Experience within healthcare, life sciences, medtech, or regulated environments
- Exposure to high-growth SaaS or platform businesses
- Knowledge of Python ecosystems including FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, and Alembic
