Senior Software Engineer - Behavioral Security Products

Sr. Software Engineer - Account Takeover (Public summit)

At Abnormal AI, we protect our customers against nefarious adversaries who are constantly evolving their techniques and tactics to outwit and undermine the traditional approaches to security.

Abnormal is recognised as a top cybersecurity startup (Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Email Security Platforms), securing a Series D funding of $250 million at a $5.1 billion valuation in August 2024.

About the Team

The team owns the infrastructure, ML models, customer-facing APIs, and internal tools that drive Abnormal’s Account Takeover (ATO) protection product—a critical solution for detecting malicious activity and safeguarding customers from account theft.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to:

  • Lead complex feature delivery and technical design for our ATO platform.
  • Scale the platform to support growing product requirements.
  • Own backend development, production operations, stakeholder management, and the mentorship of engineers.

The core objective: drive system reliability, reduce latency, and accelerate feature release cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery & Leadership

  • Design, build, and iterate on scalable backend systems, APIs, frameworks, and ML-based solutions.
  • Own end-to-end development of critical features to enhance customer experience and security.
  • Ensure stability, reliability, and operational excellence of foundational systems.
  • Write clean, testable, and robust code while considering edge cases and performance.
  • Author and review technical design documents, influencing best practices across the team.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to on-call rotations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
